This role is critical for performing repairs, maintenance, and modifications with minimal downtime for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workshop-Based Machining:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain conventional and CNC boring machines and lathe machines as per engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for each job.
  • Perform precision machining operations including turning, boring, facing, threading, and milling.
  • Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, bore gauges).
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications.
2. On-Site (In-Situ) Machining:
  • Travel to client sites to perform on-site machining operations, primarily line boring, flange facing, and milling on large, immovable components.
  • Set up and secure portable machining tools (e.g., line boring machines, flange facers) on-site in often challenging environments.
  • Work collaboratively with client representatives and other trades to plan and execute jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve machining issues in the field.
3. Safety and Maintenance:
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures at all times, both in the workshop and on-site.

  • Proven experience with in-situ machining techniques, specifically line boring and flange facing.
  • Strong proficiency in operating both conventional and CNC machine tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Competence in using precision measuring instruments.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a strong safety mindset.
Desirable:

  • Knowledge of CNC programming (G-code/M-code) is a significant advantage.
  • Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
  • Workshop: The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, and metal chips. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • On-Site: The role requires frequent travel to client sites, which may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions. Overtime and off-hours work may be required to meet project deadlines.
