Glyph Language Services is currently seeking a sharp, self-reliant and enthusiastic Localization Support Engineer to join our exceptionally high performing Translation and Localization Team. The Glyph Localization Support Specialist is part of the backbone and powerful arm of the production workflow, prepping localization projects as they come in, perfecting them visually and then ensuring delivery of high quality, on-time deliverables to customers. This a remote/contract position. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Coordinate all phases of assigned translation projects including pre-processing and post-processing of files, correct file versioning and management, and project archiving
• Thoroughly review source material for issues potentially affecting quality or delivery timeline
• Prepare and preliminarily engineer source files for CAT tools and Translation Memory; post-process translated files
• Utilize a range of design, layout and graphic applications to ensure the formatting of target files matches the original source files or conform to other designated guidelines
• Troubleshoot and resolve DTP, graphics, and font related issues
• Assist in the development of translation glossaries and translation memories
• Provide engineering support to Project Managers by analyzing project requirements and preparing support budgets for outsourced tasks
• Collaborate on the design, implementation and documentation of new support processes and tools

Essential Qualifications

• Technical education and/or passion, preferably in computer science
• Competency in the use of a good range of graphic design and desktop publishing tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, e.g.) and major file types
• Good knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Good knowledge of standard office software (Microsoft Office)
• Excellent knowledge of CAT Tool (memoQ preferred) and QA rules, as well as Term Base and Translation Memory maintenance.
• Excellent spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications

• Some knowledge of HTML / XML formats
• Basic to intermediate programming skills (C/C++, Visual Basic, etc.)
• Basic to intermediate scripting (e.g., Windows Scripting Host (js, vbs), Perl, RegEx)
• Experience with audio/video/software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, FinalCut)
• Experience with courseware (e.g., Articulate Storyline)
• Experience with subtitles and voice over
