Job Description

Job Summary:

The Lipping & Edge Banding Machine Operator is responsible for operating, setting, and maintaining the edge banding and lipping machines used to apply PVC, ABS, veneer, or melamine edging to MDF, chipboard, and wood panels. The operator ensures that all edges are properly sealed, finished, and meet quality and dimensional specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Operation & Setup:

Set up the lipping and edge banding machines according to production specifications and material type. Adjust temperature, glue application, feed speed, and trimming units for proper adhesion and finish. Load and position panels correctly on the feed table. Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent quality and smooth performance.
2. Quality Control:

Inspect finished panels for edge quality, adhesion strength, and surface finish. Check for defects such as glue marks, chipping, or misalignment and make necessary adjustments. Maintain production records and label completed work for identification.
3. Maintenance & Safety:

Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of machines (e.g., cleaning glue pots, replacing cutters or trimmers). Report any equipment malfunctions or material issues to the supervisor. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
4. Production Efficiency:

Coordinate with production and assembly teams to ensure smooth workflow and minimize downtime. Optimize machine setup times and material usage to reduce waste. Support continuous improvement initiatives for quality and productivity.

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in woodworking or machinery operation preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience operating lipping or edge banding machines in a woodworking or furniture production environment. Knowledge of different edging materials (PVC, ABS, veneer, melamine) and adhesive types. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production instructions. Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine adjustments. Strong attention to detail, precision, and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods during machine operation. Capable of lifting and handling panels up to 25-30 kg with assistance. Good manual dexterity and visual accuracy for fine finishing tasks.

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
