Lighting Director

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Lighting Director for our Broadcast Operations Team at our Dubai office in UAE. MBN is a non-profit grantee of the federal government that directly communicates with the people of the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio, and digital media. MBN's mission is to provide objective, accurate, and relevant news and information to the people of the Middle East about the region, the world, and the United States in support of U.S. public diplomacy.

The Lighting Director is responsible for providing technical operations support for fast paced news and entertainment broadcast networks.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Lighting Director include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the operation of the lighting department.
• Scheduling staff and contract lighting personnel to accommodate all live and recorded productions.
• Directing and supervising lighting and personnel in the in the execution of lighting designs for all studio productions.
• Collaborating with producers and directors to achieve the desired lighting scheme for live and recorded productions.
• Maintaining inventory of all lighting supplies.
• Overseeing maintenance of all lighting fixtures and equipment.
• Communicating with operations manager the concerns and needs of the lighting department.
• Establishing and maintaining the lighting design for all studio productions.
• Overseeing the training of all lighting technicians to ensure the consistency and quality of each shows established lighting scheme.
• Developing budgets and schedules for all lighting projects.
• Supporting a 24x7 facility, may require the ability to work various shifts, weekends, including holidays.
• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

Candidates are required to have:

• Four year degree in television or related field or equivalent experience; professional experience in lieu of education will be considered.
• Proficiency with computer systems.
• 3+ supervisory experience.
• 5 years combined studio and field lighting experience.
• Knowledge of ETC consoles and dimmer systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overnights and weekends.
