Job summaryWe are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Lifting Superintendent to oversee and manage all heavy lifting and rigging operations for our project in Qatar. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all lifting activities are planned, supervised, and executed in accordance with the highest industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.Key responsibilities

Safety leadership:

Enforce strict adherence to all company and project-specific Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies related to lifting and rigging.

Planning and review:

Develop, review, and approve detailed lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements for all complex and critical lifting operations.

Site supervision:

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the rigging team, including supervisors, crane operators, and riggers, to ensure safe and efficient execution.

Equipment management:

Conduct regular inspections of all lifting equipment, rigging gear, and accessories to ensure their fitness-for-purpose and compliance with certification standards (e.g., LEEA, LOLER).

Permit control:

Ensure that all necessary work permits are obtained and properly approved before commencing any lifting operation.

Coordination:

Liaise effectively with project management, construction teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless integration of lifting activities into the project schedule.

Incident investigation:

Lead and participate in the investigation of any lifting-related incidents or near-misses and implement corrective actions.

Training and competency:

Assess the competency of lifting personnel and provide guidance and training as needed to maintain high operational standards.
Skills and qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in lifting and rigging operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role on major industrial or EPC projects.

Certification:

Hold relevant industry certifications, such as Appointed Person (CPCS or LEEA), LEEA qualifications, or equivalent.

Technical expertise:

Proven ability to read and interpret engineered lift plans, schematics, and technical drawings. Must be proficient in load calculations and the principles of rigging.

Safety knowledge:

Thorough understanding of international lifting standards and regulations (e.g., LOLER, ASME, API) and local Qatari safety requirements.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate with multinational teams.

Physical fitness:

Certified physically and medically fit for duty in an industrial or construction environment.

Local experience (Preferred):

Experience working on projects within Qatar or the GCC region is highly desirable.
