Lift Planning & Risk Assessment

Prepare

Lifting Plans

, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments for all critical and non-critical lifting operations. Select appropriate lifting equipment (cranes, lifting accessories, etc.) based on load type, weight, radius, height, and site conditions. Perform

pre-job hazard identification

and implement control measures.
2.

Technical Supervision

Ensure lifting equipment and accessories are certified, fit for use, and inspected as per statutory requirements. Supervise critical lifts (tandem lifts, lifts near live utilities, or people) and ensure proper communication between Rigger, Operator, and Supervisor. Review crane configurations, load charts, and lifting zones for compliance.
3.

Compliance & Regulations

Ensure compliance with:

Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS)

QatarEnergy Safety Standards

Ashghal / Kahramaa / ISO / BS / OSHA / LOLER / API RP 2D

standards Liaise with HSE to ensure lifting activities follow all health and safety guidelines.
4.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain updated lifting plans, equipment certificates, and inspection logs. Prepare reports on lifting operations, incidents/near misses, and equipment failures.
5.

Team Coordination

Coordinate with rigging teams, lifting supervisors, site engineers, and crane operators. Conduct toolbox talks and pre-lift briefings.
6.

Inspection & Testing

Conduct or supervise

thorough examination

of lifting equipment. Ensure third-party inspection and certification is done for all lifting gear. Maintain register for all lifting accessories (shackles, slings, chain blocks, etc.)
7.

Training & Development

Ensure riggers, signalmen, and crane operators are

certified and competent

(e.g., TUV, Velosi, Applus, etc.) Assist in providing lifting safety awareness training when necessary.
8.

Emergency Preparedness

Develop emergency rescue procedures for failed or interrupted lifts. Participate in incident investigations involving lifting equipment or operations.
