Legal Counsel - Projects and Construction - Mace - Dubai, UAE
Position Overview
The Legal Counsel role at Mace Dubai delivers legal advice and training to projects and business teams, supporting construction and infrastructure delivery across the UAE and wider region. This position leads contract review and negotiation, manages legal and commercial risks, and provides ongoing advisory support throughout the project lifecycle while aligning with business strategy and compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the review, negotiation, and drafting of contracts and legal agreements including consultancy appointments, frameworks, terms of service, joint venture agreements, supply chain agreements, and ancillary documents
• Identify and advise on legal and commercial risks within client tenders and project documentation
• Support insurance risk management and claims in coordination with internal teams and brokers
• Liaise with commercial teams, project teams, and senior stakeholders to manage contracts from review through signing and delivery
• Provide ongoing legal advisory support throughout the project lifecycle
• Deliver legal and contractual risk training to colleagues and project teams
• Maintain and update legal precedents, templates, and guidance materials
• Support dispute avoidance and manage disputes with external counsel and insurers when required
• Advise on regulatory compliance including conflicts of interest, anti-bribery, data protection, modern slavery, health and safety, and regulated procurement

Ideal Profile

• Legal qualification in a relevant jurisdiction in the Middle East or UK
• Experience in private practice or in-house legal teams within construction or infrastructure environments
• Strong technical legal knowledge with commercial understanding of construction agreements
• Working knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, and JCT contract forms
• Experience operating across more than one jurisdiction
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks applicable to construction and infrastructure
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
• Professional standard of written and spoken English with Arabic language skills considered an advantage
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
