The job of the Legal Counsel \xe2\x80\x93 Middle East is to support the Legal Department in providing legal advice in all matters that are relevant to the Sanofi\xe2\x80\x99s commercial operations in the Middle East.
KEY RESULTS / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide consistent, careful, constructive and commercially relevant legal and practical advice on a broad range of issues in a timely manner in order to assist the business in meeting its commercial objectives and contribute to the success of all the GBUs;
Draft and negotiate specific contractual clauses and agreements with external entities, as appropriate, in connection with, inter alia, consultancy agreements, patient support programs, services agreements, medical affairs related agreements, promotion agreements and materials, and other contracts, developing contract templates as and when appropriate;
Review digital initiatives and social media projects and ensure their compliance with current local rules and regulations;
Sit on project teams for key business projects, providing proactive solution-focused legal advice;
Deliver training on group contract procedure, and create and deliver trainings tailored to specific and relevant areas of law as may be required;
Sensitize the company\xe2\x80\x99s employees to the importance of legal to the business;
Safeguard the company\xe2\x80\x99s legal interests and ensure the progress of the company\xe2\x80\x99s strategy;
Advise on disputes, complaints, claims and litigations, and manage where necessary litigations with the assistance of external legal counsel;
Monitor, supervise and evaluate external legal counsel\xe2\x80\x99s representation of the company with respect to outsourced matters, both in terms of their expertise and cost containment;
Keep abreast of trends and changes in the law and regulation as reflected in current cases, legislation, and government regulations affecting the company, and communicate them to management;
Participate in the review of new legislation requiring contractual compliance, and implements systems required to attain compliance;
Vet all transactions related to Iran to make sure they are aligned with the trade sanctions;
Advise the local management on pharmaceutical industry issues such as promotional and advertising practices;
Support local affiliates\xe2\x80\x99 management and the compliance department on compliance issues;
Bring a solid business orientation and focus on problem solving, while upholding strong ethics and integrity across the organization;
Conduct legal and factual research and data analysis as directed;
Establish, maintain, process, and/or oversee files, correspondence, databases, records, certificates, and/or other documents; and
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Abide by the requirements of the internal Code of Ethics including but not restricted to maintaining high professional standards of conduct in line with the Company procedure with a duty of care to the reputation of the Company

External legal counsel for outsourced matters and litigations.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Educational Level
The Legal Counsel should have a law degree from an accredited university and be admitted to practice law in a western or a middle eastern jurisdiction. Admittance to practice law in a U.S. Sate or the U.K. would be an added advantage.
Experience
8 years PQE minimum.
Background in a pharmaceutical related sector or FMCG, with a reputable multinational business and/or a leading international law firm is desirable, but not mandatory.
An excellent knowledge of compliance procedures within a multinational environment including the laws and regulations relating to F.C.P.A. and UK Anti-Bribery legislations.
Solid experience in identifying and dealing with complex business issues, conflicting interests and providing qualified legal advice to senior management.
