Job Description

Job Purpose This position is responsible for assisting the General Counsel & VP Risk & Compliance (GC) in providing legal support, services and advice to Business Units, Support Services and the Corporate Functions . The core activities of the position shall involve review of contracts and other binding documentation, advice and action on contentious matters, transactional advice, preparation of contracts and templates, legal updates and research, and assistance with legal, compliance and risk policies. In particular:

  • Providing strategic advice regarding policies, procedures, systems, checks, template issuance and legal updates;
  • Supporting DWTC commercial business units by providing complex legal expertise in areas of exhibitions/events, media, corporate, intellectual property, M&A, litigation, employment, real estate, procurement, finance, commercial and construction law;
  • Advising on contentious disputes, settlements and litigation matters;
  • Drafting, reviewing and updating legal documentation, templates and presentations; * Assessing legal risks and liability and advising commercial business units on legal exposures to take into account;
  • Taking the lead in legal negotiations and liaising with external counterparties, government agencies and other competent authorities;
  • Supervising and monitoring junior members of the legal risk & compliance department, allocating work, training lawyers, managing workflow and coordinating department meetings;
  • Providing legal updates on applicable legislation and drafting new laws as required by the Freezone Authority.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • To work closely with the GC to ensure best practices in the consistent, good quality and timely delivery of legal services, risk & compliance support and advice to Business Units, Support Services and the Corporate Functions
  • To provide advice on the merits of contentious matters and assist in their resolution.
  • To provide advice and guidance on legal matters and issues affecting the business or the work of any Business Units, Support Services and the Corporate Functions
  • To review contracts received from third parties for supply or provision of goods and services.
  • To prepare and draft standard legal templates for repeated used by the Business Units, Support Services and the Corporate Functions across.
Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience/Training/Knowledge
  • Formal Education Bachelor's Degree and admission to practice law (must be a currently qualified lawyer).
  • Work Experience At least 5 years post qualification relevant experience, including demonstrated experience applying the principles of property, civil and commercial, labour, corporate, media/entertainment areas of law. Local UAE work experience is a must.
  • Skills and Knowledge Written and spoken proficiency in English (Arabic as well is preferred but not essential).

Contract length: 2 months Salary: AED30,000.00 - AED32,000.00 per month Ability to commute/relocate:
