Overview / Responsibilities: Wood is currently looking for a Lead Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE. Please note that at this stage, applications for this role are invited as an Expression of Interest (EOI) whilst opportunities are being fully determined.
Accountable for the quality of Technical Safety deliverables
Providing Technical Safety guidance to the team
Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
Participating in audits and incident investigations as required
Executing assigned scopes of work
Providing discipline expertise to the business
Participating in project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required
Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
Providing technical support to site as required
Manage Technical Safety discipline team
Ensure that all project Health, Safety and Environmental policies are complied with
Ensure that design meets all Technical Safety requirements and maintains risks to as low as reasonably practicable
Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
Self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments
Expert knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up
Expert awareness of international codes and standards
Expert knowledge of design deliverables associated with loss prevention scopes
Experience of coordinating HAZOP, HAZID, SIL Classification studies
Experience of directing Management of Change (MOC) reviews
Able to perform Physical Hazard Effects (PHE) modelling as required
Able to interrogate and review and perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) as required
Technical Assurance (engineering quality assurance and control)
Resource management
Standardization and replication across the Contract
Contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through achieving project completion to the project specifications on schedule
Skills / Qualifications:
Degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.)
Membership of a recognised professional institute preferred
Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry
Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company
Experience working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of process safety design and analysis
Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards
Experience of participation in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating studies
