Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer (Static) to strengthen our team. This is a Home Office position based in Dubai, but it may involve occasional visits to the Client offices and/or site in Iraq.

The Role:

Contributing to delivery of Engineering excellence through:

• Executing assigned scopes of work.
• Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
• Providing discipline support to the business.
• Coaching and mentoring as delegated.
• Develop training program for graduates.
• Provide technical presentations (lunch & learn) sessions to co-workers on knowledge sharing basis.
• Deputising for Lead as required.
• Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
• Executing assigned personal objectives.
• Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery.
• Carry out survey and answer site queries.
• Review and check the work of design team.
• Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
• Assist in the preparation of CTR\'s and man-hour estimates.
• Attend meetings as and when required.
• Assist procurement and project engineering personnel in the procurement of equipment and materials.
• Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues.

• Demonstrate understanding of and work to discipline specific procedures

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
• Provide discipline support to the business.
• Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports.
• Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification with extensive relevant experience.
• Membership of a recognized professional institute is preferred

Minimum Experience

• 15+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry
• Minimum of 6 years experience in similar role
• Knowledge in HVAC would be added advantage
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the engineering design and analysis.
• Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
• Experience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID and e-HAZOP to design.
• Experience with design for prefabricated modular packaged equipment.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East/Iraq would be an advantage.
• Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context.
• Familiar with the use of industry standards and codes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good Oral and Communication skills.
• Must have good interpersonal skills/team player.
• Proficient in the use of PVElite, AutoCAD and MS-OFFICE
• Able to demonstrate team working skills.
• Flexible with a can-do attitude.
• Able to travel to Basra, Iraq as required.
