Position Overview
Azizi Developments is expanding into the energy sector and is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Energy Division in Dubai, UAE. This role will oversee mechanical engineering design, review, and execution for power generation projects covering thermal, solar PV, wind, gas, hydro, and hybrid technologies. The position requires expertise in rotating equipment, boilers, HVAC systems, and balance of plant (BoP) to ensure projects are designed, procured, and commissioned to meet international standards and project objectives.

Core Duties

  • Lead mechanical design for power plants, including system integration, equipment selection, and thermal performance analysis
  • Review and approve drawings, datasheets, and specifications from EPC contractors, OEMs, and consultants
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and conduct technical bid reviews for major mechanical equipment
  • Supervise installation and commissioning of turbines, boilers, HVAC, piping, and related systems
  • Coordinate with electrical and civil teams to ensure seamless project execution
  • Conduct inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and performance testing of mechanical equipment
  • Develop internal engineering standards aligned with ASME, API, ISO, and DIN codes
  • Support lifecycle assessments, reliability engineering, and maintenance planning
  • Mentor mechanical engineers and provide technical guidance within the Energy Division
  • Act as owner's representative in meetings with EPC contractors, OEMs, and third-party consultants
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP sessions, and risk assessments across the project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's or MBA preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in power generation projects
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, fluid mechanics, thermal systems, and piping design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, Aspen HYSYS, or HTRI
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, ISO, DIN, and UAE design standards
  • Proven track record in EPC execution or owner's engineering roles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination abilities
Preferred
  • Experience in combined-cycle, cogeneration, or hybrid renewable plants
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and asset lifecycle management
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification
  • Experience in developing markets or remote project locations
