The role

Wood is currently looking for a Lead I&C Engineer to join our team in Sharjah, UAE.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.


Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Responsibilities:

Assume sole responsibility for assigned Instrument and Controls engineering work scopes Carry out Instrument and Controls discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilities Plan, budget, organize and control a segment of the Instrument and Controls engineering deliverables for the project Prepare Instrument and Controls deliverables for all project phases the oil and gas industry Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule Provide direction and guidance on all Instrument and Controls engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties Liaise with the Client's Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion Promote safe behaviour at all times Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up Assist in the coordination of all activities related to Instrument and Controls engineering design Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required

Expected:

Degree qualification in Instrument or Electronics Engineering Membership of a recognised professional institute preferred Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company Experience working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Instrument & Control design and analysis Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for Instrument and Controls engineering design Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards Experience of participation in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating studies
