Who are we looking for?
As a Lead Facade Designer at GHD, you will play a key role in delivering technically complex and architecturally ambitious facade projects across the UAE and wider GCC region. You will bring proven experience across a wide range of facade systems and construction methodologies, including stick and unitized curtain wall systems, skylights, windows and doors, cladding systems (stone, concrete, aluminum), balustrades, and lightweight structural elements.
We are looking for forward-thinking designers who are passionate about developing innovative facade solutions that respond to evolving industry demands. In this role, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of facade design from concept to documentation and delivery ensuring technical quality, compliance, and performance across every stage.
You will collaborate closely with our growing facade team and work alongside multidisciplinary GHD teams on high-profile projects that demand both creativity and technical precision.
Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with clients and design teams during concept and tender phases, providing expert technical input and ensuring high-quality facade design solutions.
• Lead design reviews to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with project requirements, and alignment with architectural vision and performance standards. Ensure compliance with internal procedures, client requirements, and industry best practices in all drafting and documentation efforts.
• Develop and communicate facade design intent through detailed documentation using AutoCAD, Rhino, and Revit.
• Coordinate with main contractors and specialist subcontractors to resolve construction-stage challenges, ensure integrity and provide practical and buildable solutions, advising clients on facade construction methods and installation strategies.
• Lead the end-to-end development of facade packages; from concept design to construction including technical documentation, mock-up planning, and performance testing to ensure compliance with project, performance, and aesthetic requirements.
• Monitor and manage drafting resources and schedules to ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
• Promote innovation in design by integrating sustainable materials, circular economy principles, and emerging facade technologies.
• Mentor and guide facade designers, supporting their technical development and contribution to project delivery.

Qualifications Skills & Expertise:

• Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from a reputed University.
• Minimum 12 years' experience in Facade Design, preferably with a mix of consultancy and contracting experience. Experience working in the UAE is essential.
• Experience working in the office and on site.
• Expert in AutoCAD, Revit and Rhino.
• Sound knowledge in facade systems and design and relevant codes and standards.
• Strong track record of working cross-functionally within a complex matrix organization.
• Experience in forming strong and collaborative relationships with team members across different regions and focus areas.
• Ability to hand sketch and present ideas during meetings and presentations.
• Meticulous attention to detail with ability to schedule and manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong time management skills and ability to deal effectively with changes and unexpected problems and issues.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
