Role Summary Cigna International is a leading healthcare company serving customers with a wide-range of international healthcare plans, insurance products and well-being services around the globe. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated lawyer to support our Middle East operations. The successful candidate will assist the Head of Legal in their responsibilities by providing professional and technical legal advice and supporting legal oversight of regional jurisdictions including Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, KSA, Kuwait and Oman. Regulatory and compliance experience is advantageous. The ideal candidate will be a high performing individual who has the ability to work autonomously with support where required from the wider legal and compliance team. We are looking for a team player, who has the ability to influence and persuade business partners, find solutions and enjoy working in a changing environment. Creativity and flexibility is critical for this role as you will be required to identify solutions beyond standard procedures and often to meet multi-jurisdictional requirements. The role will be based in Dubai, and may require occasional travel within the region. Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate wide variety of commercial agreements, including distribution agreements, service agreements, intercompany agreements, contract amendments, marketing agreements and ensure timely delivery of contracts and other documents for Cigna clients, working closely with internal teams to facilitate, negotiate, and finalise various transactions;
  • Draft policy terms and conditions standard and bespoke, proactively maintain insurance documentation and make recommendations for improvement, prepare policy filing applications for local regulators;
  • Ensure adequate governance for Clients contracts, including reporting, monitoring and meeting any legal or contractual requirements in relation to both internal and external agreements by maintaining efficient contract management systems;
  • Maintain an awareness of regulatory developments in the market applicable to the business. Provide clear, timely, commercial legal advice to business partners on regulations in multiple jurisdictions to identify and manage risks and highlight legal and regulatory opportunities;
  • Identifying potential legal issues and formulating solutions to achieve the stated business objectives;
  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure that applicable deadlines are met and that issues are dealt with in a clear and timely manner;
  • Advising on key laws and regulation, including data protection legislation;
  • Liaising with and managing external counsel relationships;
Candidate Requirements
  • 4-7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a practising lawyer including experience in-house ideally within the insurance industry and in the Middle East.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). English and Arabic skills highly important.
  • Strong technical skills, time management skills and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Energetic, pro-active and pragmatic personality able to adapt to changing priorities and complex situations.
  • Accountable, problem solver, open minded, flexible and creative.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as being a team player.
