Job Description
Purpose and Scope of the Job
The Laundry Attendant works under the supervision of the Laundry in charge/ Laundry Supervisor and is responsible for the provision of laundry services according to infection control and laundry practice standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
1
Receives sorts and counts all linen and uniforms as per the hospital procedure.
2
Follows the infection control procedure in all laundry related jobs.
3
Prepares clean linen and uniforms for issue on a daily basis.
4
Checks the condition of uniforms and send damaged ones to seamstress to repair.
5
Reports engineering failure and other break downs to immediate supervisor.
6
Maintains the cleanliness of all laundry areas.
7
Assists in linen and uniform inventory control process.
8
Executes departmental administration filling in forms and checklists as required on time.
9
Makes appropriate suggestions and recommendations to supervisors for the general improvement of the laundry/ hospital.
10
Attends all the department meetings and trainings as required by supervisors.

Contributes to the morale and team spirit of the hospital by maintaining effective relationships with colleagues.

Follows the infection control practices related to Laundry

Attends all the trainings and staff development activities.

Physical Demands: Stands and walks short to moderate distance throughout shift. Routinely required to move laundry carts over short distance, using appropriate hand trucks and carts.

Working Condition: Works primarily indoors throughout shift. Laundry room may be hot moist and noisy from operating machines. Linen sorting/Segregating area, minimal expose to hazardous substances and possible to exposure to blood and other body fluids.

Ensures safety standards (occupational and patient safety) are complied.
17
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Direct Reporting Authority.
