Job Description

To ensure the efficient and hygienic cleaning, handling, and delivery of guest laundry and hotel linen in accordance with hotel standards. This SOP applies to all Laundry Attendants responsible for guest laundry, hotel linen, uniforms, and other fabric-related items within the hotel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collect guest laundry and hotel linen according to the schedule. Collect guest laundry as per the daily schedule or upon guest request. Ensure laundry is tagged with the guest's name and room number. Verify laundry items against the guest laundry list. Sort laundry by fabric type (cotton, wool, synthetic, etc.), color (white, dark, colored), and treatment required (dry-cleaning, regular wash). Separate heavily soiled items for pre-treatment. Load laundry into the washing machine without overfilling. Choose the correct washing program and add appropriate detergent or chemicals. Start the machine and monitor the cycle. Transfer washed laundry to dryers. Select appropriate drying settings based on fabric type. Monitor drying time to prevent shrinkage or damage. Iron or press items as needed, using steam presses or irons. Fold laundry neatly and appropriately. For uniforms and guest garments, hang items if required. Package guest laundry in clean laundry bags or wrapping. Verify items against the guest laundry list. Deliver laundry to guest rooms promptly and courteously.

5. Quality Standards

All laundry must be clean, stain-free, and neatly pressed. No cross-contamination of items (e.g., guest laundry vs. kitchen linen). Ensure timely delivery of laundry services (typically within 24 hours unless otherwise requested). Maintain guest confidentiality and respect personal items. Wear gloves and use protective equipment as needed. Follow all safety guidelines for operating laundry machinery. Clean machines and workstations regularly. Use chemicals and detergents as per safety instructions. Maintain daily logs of laundry collection and delivery. Note any guest complaints, damaged items, or lost articles and report immediately to the supervisor. Maintain inventory of laundry supplies and report when restocking is required. Sort laundry based on fabric type, color, and cleaning requirements. Select appropriate washing cycles, detergents, and cleaning agents. Operate laundry equipment (washers, dryers, presses, irons) safely and effectively. Inspect garments for damage or stains before and after cleaning. Ensure all laundry is properly ironed, folded, and stored or delivered. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the laundry area. Report any damaged items or machine malfunctions to the supervisor. Maintain records/logs of guest laundry collected and delivered. Handle guest garments with care and confidentiality.
