The Landscape Architect is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and supervising landscape works for building construction projects, ensuring aesthetic quality, functionality, sustainability, and compliance with approved drawings, local regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning
Prepare landscape concept designs, detailed drawings, layouts, sections, and specifications in coordination with architectural and engineering teams.
Develop softscape and hardscape designs including planting plans, irrigation layouts, paving, water features, street furniture, and lighting coordination.
Review and interpret landscape-related design documents, BOQs, and technical specifications.
Project Coordination & Execution
Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP teams, and contractors to integrate landscape works with overall building construction.
Supervise landscape works on site to ensure execution is in accordance with approved drawings, materials, and quality standards.
Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, samples, and method statements related to landscape works.
Site Supervision & Quality Control
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, and compliance with project specifications.
Ensure proper soil preparation, planting, irrigation installation, drainage, and hardscape construction.
Identify design or site-related issues and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all landscape works comply with local authority regulations, environmental guidelines, and sustainability requirements.
Coordinate with authorities and consultants for approvals related to landscape scope, where required.
Cost & Time Management
Assist in preparing landscape BOQs, cost estimates, and value engineering proposals.
Monitor landscape work progress against project schedules and report delays or risks to management.
Handover & Maintenance
Prepare as-built drawings and landscape handover documents.
Provide guidance on plant maintenance, irrigation operation, and landscape upkeep during defect liability periods.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline.
Professional certification or membership in a recognized landscape or architectural body is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum
3-5 years
of experience in landscape design and site supervision for building or mixed-use construction projects.
Experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of landscape materials, plants, irrigation systems, and construction techniques.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software (e.g., SketchUp, Lumion, or similar).
Good understanding of construction sequencing and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and under project deadlines.
Working Conditions
Office-based with frequent site visits.
May require extended working hours based on project requirements.
