The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and improving lubricant formulations, ensuring compliance with international industry standards, and managing laboratory operations. This role requires expertise in chemical and physical analysis of lubricants, research & development (R&D), and experience in leading lab teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lubricant Development & Formulation
Develop & Formulate and test new lubricant blends by optimizing components to develop the best additive-base oil combinations, ensuring the highest quality at the most cost-effective price while maintaining compliance with required specifications.
Improve existing formulations to enhance performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with ACEA, API, JASO, ASTM, SAE, ISO, and OEM specifications as required.
2. Testing & Quality Assurance
Conduct chemical and physical analyses of lubricant samples and raw materials to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
Ensure that all purchased and manufactured products comply with industry safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Perform all required tests, including viscosity, flash point, pour point, oxidation stability, and wear protection, to ensure product performance and compliance with specified standards.
3. Research & Development (R&D)
Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate components for developing optimal additives, ensuring compliance with the latest international formulations of ACEA, API, and JASO, to produce high-quality finished lubricants in a cost-effective manner.
Analyze test data to enhance product performance and troubleshoot formulation issues.
Stay updated on new industry trends, component, additives, and testing methods.
4. Lab Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of the testing laboratory.
Manage laboratory personnel, assign tasks, and ensure smooth workflow.
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accurate test results.
5. Technical Reporting & Documentation
Prepare detailed technical reports, SOPs, and test documentation.
Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with industry regulations.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in lubricant formulation, testing, and analysis within UAE manufacturing plants or at laboratories of international high-level brands in blending manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of lubricant chemistry, component ,additives, and base oil properties.
Hands-on experience with ASTM, ISO, and other industry-standard test methods.
Skilled in the use of various analytical instruments such as FTIR, viscometer, flash point tester, ICP, Karl Fischer titrator, cloud point tester, four-ball wear tester, and oxidation stability apparatus for comprehensive lubricant testing.
Experience in R&D, problem-solving, and data interpretation.
Strong leadership and lab management skills.
Excellent technical writing and reporting abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.
Experience in a wide range of industrial lubricants, including:
Automotive lubricants
Marine lubricants
Mining, steel, and metal lubricants
Cement industry lubricants
Power plant lubricants
Specialty lubricants
Expertise also includes lubricants for:
Heavy machinery
Hydraulic systems
Gear oils
Compressor oils
All types of greases
Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as REACH, API, ACEA, JASO, and OEM approvals.
