The Steward ensures the cleanliness, sanitation, and smooth operation of the kitchen and dining areas. They support kitchen staff and ensure compliance with hygiene standards, assisting in maintaining a safe and organized working environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen and dining areas, including floors, counters, tables, and equipment.
Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils, dishes, glassware, and cutlery.
Assist chefs and kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks as required.
Dispose of garbage and kitchen waste in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food items and cleaning supplies.
Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and quantity.
Support smooth operations during service hours, ensuring timely replenishment of supplies.
Cooperate with other team members to maintain a positive working environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational training in hospitality is a plus.
Experience
: Previous experience as a steward, kitchen assistant, or in a similar role preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Physical stamina to handle long hours, lifting, and standing.
Attention to detail and reliability.
Other Requirements:
Team player with good communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Valid work permit or eligibility to work in the region.
