The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen areas, utensils, equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards. This role supports chefs and kitchen staff by providing clean tools and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans according to established hygiene standards.
Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and work surfaces.
Collect and dispose of kitchen waste in designated areas.
Ensure all cleaning materials and supplies are stocked and stored properly.
Report any equipment malfunction or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Assist in basic food preparation when required.
Follow all safety and hygiene regulations as per company policies and government standards.
Work cooperatively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in stewarding or hospitality is a plus but not required.
Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot, and humid environment.
Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
