Kitchen Steward
Position: Kitchen Steward
Department: Kitchen / Stewarding
Reports to: Chief Steward / Sous Chef
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the entire kitchen, including all equipment, utensils, and work areas. They play a vital role in supporting the kitchen brigade and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans by hand or using dishwashers.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly after each shift.
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation stations, floors, walls, and storage areas.
  • Manage kitchen waste disposal and recycling.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of clean dishes and utensils are available for the kitchen and service staff.
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks (e.g., peeling vegetables) as requested by chefs.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and report when stock is low.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • No formal education required; training will be provided.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Physical strength and stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
