Junior Waiter (also known as Busboy / Busser / Commis de Rang)
Job Overview:
The Junior Waiter is a support role fundamental to the smooth operation of the dining room. This entry-level position is the backbone of the service team, responsible for the maintenance and flow of the restaurant floor. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that waiters can focus on guest interaction and that guests experience a clean, organized, and well-supported environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Table Maintenance:
• Clear tables of used dishes, glassware, and cutlery quickly, quietly, and efficiently between courses and after guests depart.
• Wipe down tables and chairs, and reset them meticulously according to the restaurant's table setting specifications.
• Ensure water glasses are consistently refilled throughout the meal.
• Dining Room Support:
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire dining area, including floors and service aisles.
• Assist in stocking side stations with clean glassware, cutlery, china, napkins, and other necessary supplies.
• Support waiters by running food or drinks from the kitchen/bar to the table, especially during peak hours.
• Help with opening and closing duties, such as setting up the dining room or breaking down stations.
• Team Assistance:
• Work under the direct guidance of the Head Waiter and in close coordination with the serving team.
• Respond promptly to requests from waiters for assistance (e.g., fetching a missing item, clearing a table for a waiting party).
• May be tasked with basic food preparation, like bringing bread baskets to tables or preparing coffee/tea.

Qualifications & Skills:

• No prior experience required, though a willingness to learn is essential.
• High energy level and physical stamina to be on your feet and moving for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic and a team-first mentality.
• Ability to follow instructions carefully and work quickly.
• Good observational skills to anticipate what needs to be done.
• Basic understanding of English is often necessary to understand requests.
