Overview: The Jr. Sous Chef will be in charge of supervising food quality, production, and costs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly and authoritatively delegate tasks to kitchen personnel. Knowledge of all kitchen stations with a ready mentality to fill in for and/or assist the team to ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly is mandatory. Familiarity with administrative duties such as ordering, inventory, training, scheduling, etc. Qualifications and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to the following:-
Manages line staff
Communicates preparation procedures and presentation standards, observing methods of preparation, tasting and smelling prepared dishes, viewing color, texture and garnishes, verifying portion sizes, and ensuring that corporate standards for food quality are consistently met
Assists with menu planning, inventory, and managing of supplies
Gives input on daily food specials to minimize food cost by maintaining effective inventory levels
Oversees the preparation and service of food
Train kitchen staff of proper food handling, maintenance, and safety
Documents and reports daily personnel issues to GM.
Communicates effectively with other departments where necessary
Additional Responsibilities:
Assists in recruiting, training, assigning duties, and supervising staff
Maintains high standards of safety and sanitation
Other duties may be assigned by management
Maintains effective communication skills by interacting professionally with co-workers
Makes recommendations for maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the kitchen and its operations
Key Requirements:
Knowledge of applicable safety and sanitation procedures
Knowledge of food cost, inventory management, and purchasing
Must have excellent communication and leadership skills,
Must be able to perform effectively as a team player
Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Bilingual speaker (English/Arabic) preferred but not required
Experience in personnel management and problem-solving skills
Familiar with labor laws
High school diploma required
Valid UAE driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
A minimum of 3 years of experience in culinary arts or an equivalent combination of education and culinary work experience in restaurant dining.
