The Junior Estimator/ Quantity Surveyor is responsible for conducting site visits, cost analysis, and managing tender processes to ensure efficient project execution. They collaborate with stakeholders to prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and maintain accurate records of all cost-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular site visits to verify quantities and identify discrepancies or deviations from the original scope of work.
2. Follow up on submitted inquiries and update relevant trackers to ensure timely response and communication.
3. Perform thorough cost analysis, including materials, labor, tools & equipment, and consumables & spares, to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
4. Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and contract terms, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
5. Prepare draft technical & commercial proposals and provide them to the Senior Estimation Engineer for review.
6. Manage the tender process, including circulating inquiries, evaluating bids, and making recommendations for awarding contracts to subcontractors and suppliers.
7. Maintain accurate records of all cost-related documents, correspondence, and contractual agreements to support audit and dispute resolution processes.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to quantity surveying, cost management, and construction economics.
9. Prepare estimated budgets using the company's or customer's approved process.
10. Coordinate with procurement for requests for quotations from suppliers and prepare timely proposals for customers.
11. Perform relevant tasks as requested by the Senior Estimation Engineer.
12. Ensure compliance with High Power Services IMS Policy, IMS manual, and related procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JCT).
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proficiency in cost estimation and project management software (e.g., CostX, MS Project, Excel).
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
