Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the planning, development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of terrestrial fauna assessment and monitoring programs to ensure alignment with biodiversity conservation objectives and national regulatory frameworks
- Guide enhancements to existing assessment, monitoring, and conservation programs to ensure optimal scientific outcomes for biodiversity conservation
- Develop, review, and update policies related to fauna assessment, monitoring, and wildlife management, ensuring alignment with local, federal, and international biodiversity standards
- Establish and implement methodologies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines for fauna research, assessment, and monitoring, ensuring high-quality and standardized data collection
- Supervise the collection, analysis, and reporting of biodiversity data, ensuring scientific accuracy and use of best practices in species and habitat assessments
- Oversee fieldwork activities, including habitat surveys, species monitoring, and impact assessments, ensuring compliance with best-in-class conservation techniques
- Coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance biodiversity data-sharing mechanisms and inform the development of conservation strategies
- Ensure compliance with international treaties and agreements related to threatened animal species and contribute to the development of conservation programs for high-priority species
- Develop enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with animal conservation regulations and contribute to the development of regulatory frameworks
- Provide expert recommendations to inform decision-making regarding fauna conservation efforts and sustainable land-use planning
- Support the integration of biodiversity assessment findings into terrestrial conservation strategies and ecosystem management initiatives
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the reporting manager
