Jib Operator /Studio Cameraman

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a MBN is looking for an experienced Jib Operator /Studio Cameraman to work in its Broadcast Operations department at our Dubai office in UAE. MBN is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster that provides news and information to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio and digital properties in support of US diplomacy

The Jib Operator / Studio Camera supports production of live and taped shows as scheduled by the Production Manager.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Jib Operator/Studio Cameraman include, but are not limited to:

• Sets up and ensures proper balance and function of the jib or camera equipment for assigned productions.
• Operates the jib in robotic camera studio environments and operates traditional video equipment in a virtual studio environment or other environments as assigned.
• Selects proper angles & distances while providing precise framing and fluid control of the jib arm.
• Demonstrates attention to production protocols such as face out, crew calls, scheduling announcements, programming changes, etc.
• Reports technical issues to the engineering team and Operations Manager.
• Implements the vision and requirements of the Director.
• Operates cameras in a safe, skilled and creative fashion.

Candidates are required to have:

• At least 3 years of experience in camera operations in a live or live-to-tape multi-camera studio environment required
• Demonstrated competency in jib operations in a studio environment
• A two year degree in television production or related field or equivalent technical educational experience
• Knowledge of High Definition camera equipment set up and usage
• Ability to follow verbal and written direction accurately working in a high pressure environment
• Ability to see details at a distance and close range and have accurate hand/eye coordination
• Ability to set up and balance camera levels for multi camera shoots
• Overall understanding of the news and programming production process
• Ability to stand for extended periods (at least 60 minutes) while multi-tasking in a fast paced, high pressure, live production environment
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Proficiency with basic use of computers, including E-mail, Microsoft Office, etc.
• A team player and works well with others
• Arabic language skills and cultural knowledge are highly desirable
• Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule to support a 24/7 broadcast environment. This may include extended shifts on short notice, overnight and weekend shifts
