DEAN OF STUDENTS NEEDED IN ABU DHABI FOR IMMEDIATE START

This KG to Grade 12 Private English medium international school is looking for a selection of teachers to join them for the current academic year.

The Dean of Students\' role is to provide support to the Academic management team of the Boy\'s and/or Girl\'s School to ensure the use of effective behavior management strategies (as articulated by the school) to implement the published School student Code of Conduct. The Dean will also be a primary communicator of student information between the school and home (parent).

The Dean of Students\' will work directly with the Head of School and/or Principal on the implementation, management and administration of resources to maintain a healthy, safe school and learning environment for students and staff.

Dean of Student\'s key responsibilities include:

\xef\x83\x98 Monitor all students\' lateness and absences before the end of the first period and report information to Head/Principal and to organize follow up communications with the parent.
\xef\x83\x98 Ensure that the Receptionist / PCO / Secretary call(s) parents of absent / late students before the end of the first block. All parents\' replies must be recorded on the student\'s PowerSchool file.
\xef\x83\x98 Assuring students attend all classes, and monitoring that student movement during class time is authorized via hall passes from teachers.
\xef\x83\x98 Entering students\' breeches of the code of conduct into the PowerSchool system on the day an incident occurs.
\xef\x83\x98 Ensuring that disruptive students report to the school detention room and inform the Head / Principal immediately of students assigned detention and the reason for the assignment.
\xef\x83\x98 Setting a daily meeting with the Head / Principal to discuss the day\'s disciplinary issues.
\xef\x83\x98 Monitoring and supervising of dismissal practices including the following: assuring all students exit classrooms, monitoring student hall passage, ensuring that students line up for buses, and monitoring the safety of students leaving the school site.
\xef\x83\x98 Observing and reporting tardiness of teachers for duties and scheduled classes to the Head/Principal.
\xef\x83\x98 Attending parent and staff meetings within the school and on occasion within the school system.
\xef\x83\x98 Assisting the head of school/principal in scheduling students in classes and field trips.
\xef\x83\x98 Supporting teachers in the implementation of initial pastoral and academic interventions with students.
\xef\x83\x98 Advising and guiding teachers through the grade, attendance, behavior reporting process within PowerSchool.
\xef\x83\x98 Monitoring and supervising halls and corridors between consecutive periods to support proper student behavior on the campus.
\xef\x83\x98 Monitoring and supervising staff duties and student behavior on the playground, in the gym, in the hallways, and canteen during breaks and lunch periods.
\xef\x83\x98 Conducting weekly school walkabouts to check and report the following:
1. Building maintenance needs,
2. Safety and security concerns around the building, and
3. Operational status of instructional equipment in the classrooms and common areas.
\xef\x83\x98 Attend all Staff meetings and Professional Development as well as the Campus leadership team meetings as required by the Campus Director and,
\xef\x83\x98 Assisting with other duties as assigned by the Head/Principal of the school.

Essential Selection Criteria
Qualification and Certification: The Dean of Students/Supervisor must be: a qualified, successful teacher; collaborative in their dealings with others; a good communicator in both English and Arabic; able to teach and work with adult learners; committed to the mission and goals of our organization; able to understand and apply research; and is willing to extend his/herself on behalf of the learning of children in Emirates National Schools.

Experience: Minimum of three years of licensed teaching experience and/or one prior year in a leadership role in an educational setting.

Technical Competencies: Strong communications (written and oral in English and Arabic) skills; instructional planning skills; analytical reasoning skills; highly organized; computer input and information management skills; human and fiscal resource management skills; able to facilitate groups of parents, students and staff; strong conflict management skills; and, data driven problem solving and decision making skills.

Leadership and Management Competencies: The Dean of Students must be able to: facilitate and model cooperative student and adult behavior focused on the achievement of goals; facilitate communications between multiple professionals with diverse opinions toward achievement of a goal; develop and implement a philosophy of teamwork within the school; demonstrate professional ethics in dealing with others, and understand role responsibility within an organization.

Combining the US core standards curriculum with a delivery through the philosophy of IB without the scope and sequence, the school blends the best of both worlds of a traditional American approach of text books and regular testing and a more student centred perspective. The ultimate goal is to eventually attain IB world school status retaining the American element so students can graduate with a US diploma and if they meet with the criteria and IB diploma too. Advanced Placement course are also available.
