Summary of the role:
The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for managing all day-to-day IT operations within the architecture and interior design company, ensuring smooth functioning of hardware, software, network systems, and digital tools essential to design and project work. This role will act as the primary internal point of contact for all IT matters and will coordinate closely with the outsourced IT vendor for escalated support, maintenance, and specialized services. The IT Officer will ensure that the company's digital infrastructure supports productive, secure, and efficient workflows.
Key responsibilities:
Provide first-level technical support to staff for hardware, software, network, and
system issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals,
Design-related applications (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc, Email,
VPN, cloud services, and file-sharing systems.
Set up new user accounts, devices, software installations, and system configurations.
Ensure smooth functioning of office Wi-Fi, network drives, and NAS/servers.
Serve as the main liaison between the company and the external IT support provider.
Log, track, and follow up on all vendor-raised tickets until resolution.
Coordinate scheduled maintenance, updates, and emergency support.
Ensure SLA compliance and escalate issues as required.
Monitor network performance, connectivity, and system uptime.
Maintain and organize network diagrams, IP lists, and documentation.
Assist in managing backups, cloud solutions, and data storage systems.
Support cybersecurity measures aligned with company policy.
Maintain an updated inventory of all company IT assets (hardware and software).
Oversee software licenses, renewals, and subscriptions.
Recommend specifications and support procurement for new IT equipment.
Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, passwords, and policies.
Assist in developing and enforcing IT policies (password policy, data access, device
use, etc.).
Ensure compliance with software licensing and data security standards.
Provide IT support tailored to architecture and design tools such as, Revit / BIM tools,
AutoCAD, 3D visualization and rendering software, Adobe Creative Cloud
Assist in troubleshooting heavy file workflows, rendering setups, and performance
optimization.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
6+ years of IT support experience (internal IT role preferred).
Experience working with or supporting architecture, engineering, or design firms is a
strong plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of hardware, Windows OS, and network systems.
Familiarity with architecture/design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion) is
an advantage.
Understanding of cloud platforms (OneDrive, Google Drive, Autodesk Construction
Cloud, etc.).
Basic understanding of cybersecurity practices and backup systems.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to urgent issues.
Organized, proactive, and service-oriented mindset.
Ability to collaborate effectively with outsourced vendors and internal teams.
Proactive in identifying and resolving IT issues.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high attention to detail.
Working conditions and Environment:
The position is an office based in Dubai. UAE.
The position has no international business travel requirements.
