Job Description

Job Purpose: The Senior Application Analyst role is responsible for solution architect and design, configuration, installation, testing, and support of a host of a variety of servers, software and providing fixes to problems as well as liaising with the external vendors for more complex fixes. IT Senior Application Analyst\'s activities includes technical support, maintenance, documentation, and administration of Application systems and Servers. Responsible for the implementation of Application Systems, Change Management and Project Coordination. Senior Application Analyst acts as a liaison between Information Systems and other business units in the organization. Responsible for the assessment and deployment of applications necessary to meet the needs of organization and provides on-going support, enhancements and maintenance to application systems in production. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed understanding of application functionality by working with senior personnel, attending meetings, and preparing documentation
  • Use technical and analytical skills to determine best approaches to tailoring system to meet individual requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing and designing applications and processes to meet user needs; installing new releases; maintaining existing applications and processes; training users on use of application features and processes; creating training materials; creating operating guides; creating troubleshooting documentation; and troubleshooting problems that occur during daily operations. Responsible for providing the application support to the company such as design and maintain expertise in flow of application process, Administer and resolve applications issues, supervise all alerts related to application and system procedures, Manage all production system and recommend ways to optimize performance and provide solution to problems and prepare reports for all problems.
  • Develop test scenarios based on requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service: communicate in a friendly and professional manner, empathize with users on system issue impacts, set appropriate expectations on issue resolution
  • Implement applications and configuration change procedures to ensure optimal Quality Assurance for all applications.
  • Monitors assigned applications to reduce application downtime and ensure that assigned applications are available when needed.
  • Employ appropriate application maintenance, support and incident management processes and procedures to support and maintain IT applications, and to investigate and resolve IT application-related incidents.
  • As required, provide timely communication to users on the status of their service requests and incidents. As necessary, liaise with IT suppliers to ensure IT application-related incidents and problems are resolved in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure problem prevention methods continually applied to improve service levels and reduce costs. Undertake IT application-related problem diagnosis, implementing problem resolution or prevention measures as appropriate.
  • Monitor the availability, performance and throughput of supported IT applications.
  • Prioritize and schedule assigned support activities and tasks.
  • Maintain IT application support technical documentation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery activities as required.
  • Analyst is responsible to mentor and provide guidance to Application Support staff.
  • Comply with all HSE policies and procedures of the company.
  • Work with the Change Managers to review and impact new business requirements.
  • Contribute to technical aspects of key change documentation such as business requirements, change impact assessments, change implementation plans, change tickets, change roll-out plans etc.
  • Ensure capacity, availability, security and service support requirements considered in all IT application changes.
  • Implement, test and monitor required IT application changes in line with change implementation plans.
  • Undertake knowledge management activities: identifying, controlling and storing any pertinent information, and maintaining knowledge items to ensure that they are current, relevant and valid.
  • Ensure IT application changes meet the agreed service acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure that all activities performed at a consistently high standard with minimal risk to the application systems, and that opportunity to improve services and processes are identified and actioned.
  • Carry out ad hoc duties as requested by appropriate managers within your department
  • Ensure that all application server, related database and configuration backup available based on the retention period and agreed intervals and backups verified periodically.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems, Telecommunications Engineering Systems or equivalent qualification, or 10+ years of working experience in IT.
  • 7+ year total experience in similar field
  • 4+ year experience in Software/Web/Mobile/Web Services Development/Programming
  • Analyst possesses skills in gathering requirements from business process owners, formulating a solution, directing activities to implement a solution and maintaining a delivered solution. Conduct long term and short term planning to meet immediate and future application requirements, which includes designing project plans, budgetary cost estimates, capacity/growth planning, accurate timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Analysts must show initiative, sound judgment and high aptitude for organization and attention to detail. This person must possess good verbal and written communication skills and above average intelligence to comprehend and solve problems.
  • Knowledge in Applications like Customer relationship management, Billing, finance, procurement, HR, Asset Management, Document Management, BI tools, Data Warehousing etc.
  • Documentation skills like Technical requirements definition.
  • Communicates effectively (clearly) in an appropriate manner.
  • Understand and comply with the IT organization requirements, processes, procedures and policies.
  • Effective Planning and Organizing.
  • Analyze, Identify and evaluate effective solutions accurately and pay attention to details.
  • Must have hands on experience in Database systems like ORACLE and/or MS SQL
  • Hands on experience with BI tools such SAP BO, SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS), SAP Sybase, BI Publisher, Crystal Report
  • SAP Business Objects - BI 4.1/4.0/XI R3 with Information Design Tool IDT, Universe Design Tool UDT , Launch Pad, Infoview, Web Intelligence WebI , Desktop Intelligence DeskI , Crystal Reports, Dashboard Design, Live Office, Publications
  • Data warehousing and Data Extraction and Transformations (ETL) - Design, Develop and Debug complex ETL jobs, scheduling of ETL jobs using SAP BODS
  • Experience in ORACLE Utilities Customer Care and Billing is added advantage
  • Experience in Web Logic, IIS, Apache Tomcat is an added advantage
  • Knowledge in Programming Concepts
  • Hands-on experience in PL/SQL, SQL Query, Stored Procedures etc.
  • Hands on experience in developing Web Services, Web API
  • Knowledge in Document Management System and Workflows is an added advantage
  • Share knowledge and expertise with others, coaching and supporting team members as required.
  • 2+ year experience in Data Analyst
  • 2+ years experience in Data Warehousing and BI Tools
  • 2+ year experience in Database Systems like ORACLE / MS SQL
