Job Description

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of inpatient medical records, assimilating information from diverse sources such as physician notes, test results, and treatment plans to extract pertinent diagnostic and procedural details.
  • Apply expertise in ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding systems to precisely allocate codes that reflect the patient\'s diagnoses, treatments, and services received during their hospitalization.
  • Ensure adherence to coding regulations and compliance standards mandated by regulatory bodies to uphold accuracy and ethical integrity in coding practices.
  • Continuously update knowledge of official coding guidelines and industry regulations to incorporate changes and maintain proficiency in coding standards.
  • Engage in effective communication with healthcare providers to clarify and resolve documentation ambiguities, facilitating accurate code assignment through queries and consultations.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards outlined in the regulations when handling patient records and sensitive medical information.
  • Collaborate with billing, compliance, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless integration of coded data into the revenue cycle and address any coding-related concerns.
  • Contribute to coding audits and quality assurance initiatives to uphold the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of coded data, thereby supporting optimal reimbursement and organizational compliance.
