Position Overview:

The Hardware Engineer - IOT Devices is responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge IoT (Internet of Things) devices. The role plays a key role in the end-to-end development of embedded hardware systems, from concept to production. The role focuses on electronics, wireless communication, and embedded systems, and is hands-on when creating low-power, reliable, and scalable IoT solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design, prototype, and test hardware for new IoT devices (sensors, controllers, edge nodes, etc.). Develop schematics and PCB layouts using tools appropriate CAD packages. Select components with an emphasis on low power consumption, RF performance, and cost optimisation. Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration. Perform EMI/EMC, environmental, and compliance testing (e.g. CE, FCC, UL). Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles. Analyse product performance and troubleshoot issues through lab testing and field diagnostics. Maintain detailed documentation throughout the design cycle.

Key Requirements:

Technical Skills:

Circuit Design: Proficiency in circuit design, analog/digital electronics, and PCB layout. Firmware Interfaces: Understanding of firmware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO). Microcontrollers: Familiarity with microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Nordic, etc.) and power management design. IoT system architecture and constraints: (e.g. power, latency, range).

Experience:

1. 3+ years of experience in hardware design for embedded or IoT systems. Experience with wireless technologies (e.g. LoRa, BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, LTEM). Hands-on experience with lab equipment diagnostic equipment. Experience with secure hardware design (TPM, secure boot, encryption ICs). Familiarity with industrial design considerations (IP ratings, thermal management). Previous involvement in taking products from prototype to mass production.

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
