Reference #991 Our client is a leading Qatari Holding Group with diversified global business interests within the Hospitality, Real Estate, Industrial, Investment Management and Financial Services sectors. This Group is currently undergoing major business transformation change introduced to support corporate governance objectives, business growth and to bring the group to a world standard. Our client now seeks to recruit an Investment Manager - Capital Markets to support their significant portfolio of liquid, short to medium-term investments. Key objectives of the role include:
  • Assist in the analysis of a variety of investment and treasury activities, including internal investment activity, external investments, banking relationships, cash management, liquidity management and external relations, development of funding and investment strategies for the Group.
  • Liaison with fund managers and analysts including the preparation and reporting on the analysis of investments and investment strategies.
  • Oversight of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s liquid Investment Portfolio (equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities) and report on market developments (local / global) in a prompt and accurate manner.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer and managing 1 direct report, this role is responsible for the following:
  • Oversight of extensive research across all asset classes including equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities and structured products including extensive fundamental and technical analysis on major stocks and currencies.
  • Creation and presentation of investment proposals and follow all news, earnings and corporate developments related to the existing portfolio and watch list.
  • Monitor the existing liquid asset allocations and recommend rebalancing strategies.
  • Review of daily market update reports and produce periodic reports and execute transactions in a precise, professional and timely manner.
  • Management of the investment database, including data verification.
  • Advise on Event and Economic Calendars and suggest actions to benefit from market trends.
  • Management of the in-house Capital Markets Investment Management and Treasury function and including the monitoring of third-party activities and treasury back-office functions.
  • Forecast and manage cash positions, related borrowing needs and funds available for investment.
  • Ensure cashflow management to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
  • Define cash reporting and forecasting processes ensuring reliable forecasts.
  • Structuring, negotiation, closing and monitoring of short-term financing facilities and managing of short-term funding and financial closure through to disbursement.
  • Develop, implement and report on best-in-class cash and liquidity management systems.
  • Monitor the investment activities (CapEx) towards efficient allocation of capital.
  • Deliver timely and accurate market research including business development activities.
  • Review and submit periodic reports to the Chief Investment Officer, the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors and Board Committees.
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, vendors, subsidiary & related companies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Analyse internal operations, identify areas of process enhancement, monitor performance and establish corrective measures, generate reports and assess and implement new technologies.
  • Supervise direct reports in daily tasks and guide performance including guiding the CIO on hiring and promotions within the department.
The attributes we seek for this role comprise:
  • Bachelor in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or Accounting is required with a Masters level qualification and/or CFA Level II or III certification and/or CTP certification being highly desirable.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in portfolio management or corporate treasury with experience in trading, banking, and/or investment funds.
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential would MS Vision being a plus.
  • Candidates must have advanced critical thinking skills with proficient knowledge in stock market and equity market outlooks as well as investment return forecasts.
  • The strong communicator we seek will be highly organised, detail oriented and be highly capable in fundamental and technical analysis.
  • Technical capabilities include valuation methodologies, equities, fixed income, FX interest rates, commodities, derivative instruments and structured products, international reporting, banking and treasury applications.
  • The capacity to deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high quality work to schedule across multicultural teams and geographical markets.
  • Fluency in English with Arabic language abilities being highly regarded.
