JOB TITLE: Inspector I - Quality (Welding / Coating) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Welding: xc2xb7 Monitoring and reporting fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items. xc2xb7 Review of WPS, PQR and weld maps. xc2xb7 Witness Welder Qualifications. Ensure that material/welding consumables are stored and handled correctly, when required material traceability is maintained and correct material used. xc2xb7 Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented. xc2xb7 Ensure welding machines/baking ovens/quivers are in serviceable condition and where required is within the valid calibration period. xc2xb7 Timely inspection during fabrication and construction. xc2xb7 Check for the qualification of the welding personnel and the kind of materials being used for the process. xc2xb7 Carry out inspection of work in progress including checking if the right procedure is followed for the welding process. xc2xb7 Perform visual and dimensional checks. xc2xb7 Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications. xc2xb7 Perform in process (before/during/after) and final visual inspections. xc2xb7 Prepare/Review Inspection reports(Fit-up, Final Visual). xc2xb7 Monitor performance of contractors, ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks, have valid certification, where required, for the welding techniques in use. xc2xb7 Review test reports including PWHT chart/records for process output compliance with requirements. xc2xb7 Prepare/review daily welding reports. Coating: xc2xb7 Ensure weather conditions are acceptable in line with applicable standards/ specifications (Environmental, time and economic constraints). xc2xb7 Ensure manufacturers instructions and MSDS are followed while handling & storage of Painting/Coating materials abrasives at site. xc2xb7 Ensure that data sheets are available, material traceability is maintained and correct material used. xc2xb7 Monitor performance of contractors, ensure Applicators are competent and where required have valid certification for the process in use, equipment is in serviceable condition. xc2xb7 Ensure inspection and test equipment is serviceable, with in calibration period and personnel are knowledgeable in its use. xc2xb7 Ensure weld area is covered before blasting, where pressure testing is not completed. xc2xb7 Ensure protection of flange serration, instruments etc before blasting. xc2xb7 Ensure surface preparation blast profile/cleanliness meet requirements. xc2xb7 Continuous monitoring of surface cleanliness and record surface profile (Should take place at least three times during the coating process: before any surface preparation activities starts, after surface preparation, before coating begins and between each application of coating in a multi-coat system). xc2xb7 Monitor wet film thickness during application and application technique. xc2xb7 Monitor dry film thickness and recoating intervals. xc2xb7 Ensure any identification marks or tags removed or over coated are replaced. xc2xb7 After the full curing activity conduct visual inspection and specified non-destructive and/or destructive tests. xc2xb7 Visual inspection after each coat (Verify correct shade, degree of gloss and evenness and be free from tackiness after drying/curing and free from cracks, holidays, runs sags, wrinkles, patches, brush or roller marks or other defects that may deleterious to the quality of the coating). xc2xb7 Witness destructive tests as applicable in accordance with the project specifications (Holiday detection, Adhesion testing, Impact resistance testing, Cathodic dis-bondment testing, Thickness of coating on steel body, Thickness of coating on weld bead, Peel test, Overall degree of adhesion ,voids exposing bare metal). xc2xb7 Check for any damages and defects upon completion of the each stage of painting/coating works. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: xc2xb7 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. xc2xb7 CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for Welding and BGAS Gr-II or NACE Level II for Painting / Coating Inspector xc2xb7 Minimum 7 years experience as Welding/Piping/Pipeline QC Inspector & Painting/coating/Refractory/Fireproofing QC Inspector. xc2xb7 Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry xc2xb7 Should have previously worked with major EPC contractor or their subcontractors Additional Information
