JOB TITLE: Inspector I - Quality (Welding, Piping & NDE )
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welding:
xc2xb7 Monitoring and reporting fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items.
xc2xb7 Review of WPS, PQR and weld maps.
xc2xb7 Witness Welder Qualifications. Ensure that material/welding consumables are stored and handled correctly, when required material traceability is maintained and correct material used.
xc2xb7 Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented.
xc2xb7 Ensure welding machines/baking ovens/quivers are in serviceable condition and where required is within the valid calibration period.
xc2xb7 Timely inspection during fabrication and construction.
xc2xb7 Check for the qualification of the welding personnel and the kind of materials being used for the process.
xc2xb7 Carry out inspection of work in progress including checking if the right procedure is followed for the welding process.
xc2xb7 Perform visual and dimensional checks.
xc2xb7 Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
xc2xb7 Perform in process (before/during/after) and final visual inspections.
xc2xb7 Prepare/Review Inspection reports(Fit-up, Final Visual).
xc2xb7 Monitor performance of contractors, ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks, have valid certification, where required, for the welding techniques in use.
xc2xb7 Review test reports including PWHT chart/records for process output compliance with requirements.
xc2xb7 Prepare/review daily welding reports.
NDE:
xc2xb7 Ensure that all non-destructive testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures by qualified and certified personnel.
xc2xb7 Verify validity of NDE Technicians certification for NDE method to be employed.
xc2xb7 Verify calibration status, suitability and serviceability of equipment and consumables to be used.
xc2xb7 Coordinate NDE activities between subcontractor, contractor and within Petrofac.
xc2xb7 Monitor, supervise and assist NDE subcontractors to achieve quality standards.
xc2xb7 Witness performance of non-destructive testing and verify compliance with approved procedure.
xc2xb7 Interpret NDE results for acceptability to specification and code requirements.
xc2xb7 Review NDE reports and radiographs for compliance with procedure and code.
xc2xb7 Ensure ambient conditions are acceptable for required process output, including darkroom facilities.
xc2xb7 Ensure that materials, films, chemicals, etc. are stored and handled correctly.
xc2xb7 Review NDE procedures for suitability, compliance to specifications and code requirements.
xc2xb7 Maintain status of NDE performed, accepted/rejected and outstanding.
xc2xb7 Assist in the coordination of NDE activities
Piping:
xc2xb7 Monitor and report compliance with P & IDs, Isometric drawings, codes, standards and procedures, all fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes of process piping.
xc2xb7 Ensure piping installation and test procedure(s) are followed.
xc2xb7 Ensure installation of piping is in compliance with isometric drawings and code requirements with respect to; material, alignment, supports, valve type, valve orientation, heat trace, insulation, marking, tapings, take offs.
xc2xb7 Verify proper size and schedule of pipe, rating of flange face and fittings.
xc2xb7 Ensure satisfactory identification of materials, proper protection of piping and fittings.
xc2xb7 Ensure adequate valve access for operability and maintenance.
xc2xb7 Ensure operation of flange management system to include correct flange class, flange type, alignment, gasket, orifice plate, bolts, washers, nuts, bolt torque, use of insulation kit.
xc2xb7 Responsible for quality control & inspection of piping fabrication activities.
xc2xb7 Line checking and clearing the punch items before the pressure test on completed pipelines.
xc2xb7 Checking the piping materials as per codes and process standard specifications. Inspection of shop fabrication of piping spools and supports.
xc2xb7 Visual inspection of plant piping and preparing Punch list after installation.
xc2xb7 Perform inspection on erection and installation of prefabricated pipe lines. Checking of Material take off list. Review pressure test packages as per P&ID, Isometric drawings, test limit drawings and all related documents and witnessing pressure/leak testing.
xc2xb7 Line check prior to pressure test, ensuring provision of additional supports when required, spring hangers are locked, instruments, orifice plates and equipment are isolated or removed, blind flanges are correctly rated and certified, valves removed or isolated, vent and drain valves installed.
xc2xb7 Prepare punch list prior to pressure test, categorize items, ensure all A-items cleared prior to pressure test.
xc2xb7 Witness pressure test, ensure gauges and recorders are within valid calibration, inhibitors in use as required by specification, line flushed, vented and filled. Monitor pressure and sign off records.
xc2xb7 Prepare final punch list of outstanding actions/items, categorize and monitor clearance.
xc2xb7 Inspect line reinstatement, drain, dry and preservation and sign off records.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
xc2xb7 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
xc2xb7 CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for Welding and NDT Level II Certifications for NDE.
xc2xb7 CSWIP film interpretation/CSWIP 3.2.2/ RTFI Level II Certification through Petrofac for RT interpretation.
xc2xb7 Minimum 7 years experience as Welding/Piping/Pipeline QC Inspector & Painting/coating/Refractory/Fireproofing QC Inspector.
xc2xb7 Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry.
xc2xb7 Should have previously worked with major EPC contractor or their subcontractors.
