The Commis I - Indian/Tandoori Chef is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Indian and Tandoori dishes. The role supports senior chefs in daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook Indian and Tandoori dishes according to established recipes and standards
Assist senior chefs with mise en place, marination, spice preparation, and tandoor operations
Ensure proper handling and storage of food items in line with HACCP standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and tandoor area
Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation before service
Follow portion control and minimize food wastage
Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
Assist during peak service times and support team members as needed
Participate in training and skill development programs
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum 2-4 years of experience as a Commis I or similar role in an Indian/Tandoori kitchen
Good knowledge of Indian cuisine, tandoor cooking, spices, and traditional techniques
Ability to operate tandoor ovens safely and efficiently
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Skills
Experience in hotel, restaurant, or high-volume kitchen operations
Basic knowledge of menu planning and food costing
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Education
Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts (preferred but not mandatory)

Pay: AED1,400.00 - AED1,800.00 per month
