Overview of the role

As an IKEA Food Team Leader, contribute to the development of key areas such as production, the IKEA Restaurant, and more. Assume line responsibility during manager absences, focusing on creating a welcoming atmosphere and compelling food offerings to enhance customer satisfaction. Engage with customers and support co-workers on the floor, playing a pivotal role in our commitment to excellence.

What you will do

Customers:
  • Ensure customers remain the focal point, aiming to bring a smile through empathetic and caring service aligned with IKEA values.
  • Lead by example, acting as a positive ambassador for the IKEA store in all customer interactions to encourage repeat visits.
  • Regularly assess the store from the customer\'s perspective, engaging in daily dialogues for continuous feedback, taking immediate action, and encouraging colleagues to do the same.
  • Possess knowledge of store services, utilizing it to enhance the customer shopping experience throughout the day.
Commercial:
  • Contribute to the store business plan and IKEA Food action plans, supporting the manager in their implementation.
  • Ensure an irresistible food offer through attractive presentation, effective communication, and a deep understanding of product knowledge.
  • Maintain awareness of top-selling products, 3 Aces, and 1 King, ensuring availability and clear communication.
  • Collaborate on marketing activities, support range changes, and initiate commercial activities during quiet times to boost store productivity.
  • Maintain an efficient, clean, organized, and inviting area for a positive customer experience.
  • Leverage local market awareness to provide input on range and pricing.
People:
  • Collaborate with the manager to ensure co-workers understand the IKEA Concept and guidelines, providing leadership, support, and coaching.
  • Foster an environment where the IKEA culture is vibrant and diversity is valued, making IKEA Food a great place to work.
  • Actively participate in the team, cooperate across store sections, and keep colleagues informed to enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Share knowledge and encourage colleagues to do the same.
Steering the Business:
  • Contribute to the store\'s success, high performance, and sales growth by working towards agreed goals.
  • Challenge costs through lean, cost-conscious practices, sharing examples and encouraging the team to find efficient ways of working.
Operations:
  • Ensure adherence to IKEA Quality and Food Safety Policies.
  • Report any food incidents through CASY and promote a "safety first" culture.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure operational success, proactively addressing bottlenecks and consistently improving customer satisfaction.
  • Implement daily operational routines and actions set out by the manager for the area.
Required Skills to be successful
  • Experience of working in vibrant retail environment with proven track record.
  • IKEA sales experience and knowledge of IKEA merchandising techniques is preferred
  • Experience of serving customers
  • Experience of supervising and working in a team is preferred
  • Experience of working with an KPI-driven action plan
  • Experience of developing action plans
  • Knowledge of the IKEA Concept, including our vision and business idea, IKEA culture and values, and how we create our business advantages is preferred
  • Basic English communication skills MS Office literate
  • Good Negotiation Skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
