Job Description

August 2024 Start - The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school was established in 1993 under the ownership of the Royal Office and Royal Oman Police Pension Funds, on land donated by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, to provide high quality international education whilst embracing traditional values based on the foundations of Omans cultural heritage.

The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS). We are currently seeking a highly skilled and innovative Art Teacher with the potential for assuming the role of Head of Department for Creative and Performing Arts. This dual opportunity is designed for a candidate who possesses a deep passion for fostering creativity, inspiring artistic expression, and leading initiatives in the realm of visual and performing arts. Key Responsibilities:

Art Instruction:

Develop and deliver dynamic and engaging art lessons, encompassing various mediums and techniques. Cultivate students' artistic abilities, fostering a love for creativity and self-expression. Curriculum Development:

Design a comprehensive and innovative art curriculum that aligns with international educational standards. Integrate diverse art forms, including visual arts, performing arts, and digital media, to offer a well-rounded arts education. Leadership and Departmental Oversight (for qualified candidates):

Lead and inspire the Creative and Performing Arts Department, providing guidance and support to fellow educators. Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-disciplinary projects that showcase the integration of arts across the curriculum. Extracurricular Involvement:

Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as art clubs, theater productions, or musical performances, to enrich students' artistic experiences. Encourage and mentor students to participate in local and international arts competitions and exhibitions. Assessment and Feedback:

Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate students' artistic progress and growth. Provide constructive feedback to nurture students' artistic development and encourage a culture of continuous improvement. Community Engagement:

Establish connections within the local and international artistic community to enhance students' exposure to diverse artistic perspectives. Engage with parents and the broader community to showcase students' artistic achievements and contributions. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field. Teaching certification. Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience, with a strong background in visual and performing arts. Exceptional artistic skills and a comprehensive understanding of various art forms. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
