Job Description

Overview

+ Provides priority service to facilities and systems designated as critical by the Government. Conducts periodic inspections, identifies problem areas, and coordinates repair methods.

Responsibilities

+ Maintains, repairs, and manages the heat generator boilers.

+ Operates, maintains and repairs HVAC equipment. Treats air by controlling temperature, humidity, cleanliness and distribution of specific areas by means of an integrated system of air conditions and ventilation equipment, accessories, and control devices.

+ Works with chilled and heated water systems, boilers, hydronic hot/cold water distribution systems, cooling towers; packaged, split systems; and air delivery systems and their controls and components.

+ Solders, brazes, and performs minor electrical work and troubleshoots equipment to a replaceable component level.

+ Reads and interprets WOs, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in accomplishing operation of and maintenance.

+ Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

+ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications:

+ Three-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High School or equivalent experience. All HVAC mechanics must hold a current and valid journeyman license to perform maintenance work and repairs on HVAC systems.

+ Experience:

+ 5 years of experience with HVAC equipment.

+ Personnel working on systems, equipment or components containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and/or hydro-chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) must be certified under an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved technical certification program per OPNAVINST 5090.1 Chapter 6 Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document/Final Government Standard (OEBDG/FGS).

+ Safety:

+ Must comply with all DoD and OSHA safety and environmental requirements.

+ Skills:

+ Must have the ability to work alone.

+ Must be able to read and comprehend wiring schematics.

+ Ability to operate laptop computer or hand-held device to program HVAC systems.

+ Ability to address a wide variety of audiences.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

+ Must have the ability to interact with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.

+ Must have the ability to work extended periods of time on a computer and read, write, and speak English.
