Job Description

The HR Manager drives strategic HR initiatives, ensuring alignment with project goals and business growth, while managing the unique challenges of a project-driven, skilled workforce, focusing on talent acquisition, site safety, compliance, and fostering a positive, productive environment across diverse teams and job sites.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Workforce Planning:

Partner with Project Managers to forecast labor needs, define roles, manage recruitment pipelines for skilled trades, and coordinate onboarding for project-specific teams.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

Lead full-cycle recruitment, leveraging industry networks; develop effective onboarding for site-based staff, including certifications, safety orientations, and project integration.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Implement and monitor HR's role in site safety policies, ensuring compliance with OSHA/local regulations, managing incident reporting, and facilitating wellness programs.

Employee Relations & Culture:

Act as a liaison between management and field teams; mediate site disputes, champion a culture of teamwork, recognize performance, and build morale across project sites.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll:

Oversee competitive wage structures, benefits administration (health, retirement), and ensure accurate, timely payroll for hourly/salaried staff, often across multiple projects/locations.

Performance & Development:

Manage performance appraisal systems, identify training needs (technical skills, leadership), coordinate ongoing training, and implement succession plans for key roles.

HR Operations & Compliance:

Ensure adherence to labor laws, manage employee records, administer HR systems, and provide metrics (turnover, engagement) to leadership.
Qualifications & Skills

Proven HR management experience, ideally within construction, engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles and labor demands. Expertise in employment law, site safety regulations, and compliance. Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
