The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the healthcare facility. This includes patient rooms, waiting areas, laboratories, diagnostic areas, offices, and common spaces. The role ensures compliance with infection control standards and supports the smooth functioning of daily healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
Follow safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), identify potential hazards, and promptly report them to the supervisor.
Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of patient rooms, operating rooms, waiting areas, offices, and other areas within the medical facility. This involves mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
Properly disposing of medical waste, including hazardous materials, adhering to waste management protocols and regulations to maintain a safe environment.
Implementing strict infection control measures by following established cleaning protocols and using appropriate disinfectants to prevent the spread of infections.
Notifying maintenance staff of any issues or repairs needed within the facility, such as broken equipment or malfunctioning fixtures.
Keeping track of cleaning supplies, inventory, and ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained to support daily operations.
Working with other staff members, such as technicians, nurses, and administrative personnel, to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
Following specific guidelines and procedures outlined by the medical facility, as well as industry standards and regulations, to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
Occasionally performing specialized cleaning tasks, such as cleaning equipment or sensitive areas like laboratories, in compliance with established protocols.
Assisting in emergency situations by providing support in maintaining cleanliness and order during emergency drills or actual incidents.
Participate in training sessions related to infection control, cleaning protocols, emergency response and safety procedures to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualification & Requirements
Minimum High School education or equivalent.
Previous housekeeping experience (preferably in healthcare) is an advantage.
Must be a female candidate locally available.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and infection control practices.
Ability to lift, move, and carry equipment and supplies.
Good communication skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Ready to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
