Heavy Equipment Auto Electrician
Overview: This specialist focuses exclusively on the complex electrical and electronic systems found in heavy machinery and large vehicles. They troubleshoot issues that standard mechanics cannot resolve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Diagnostics: Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and proprietary software to diagnose faults in wiring, sensors, and control modules.
- System Repair: Repair and maintain starting systems, charging systems, lighting systems, and operator cabin electronics.
- ECU Programming: Troubleshoot and sometimes reprogram Electronic Control Units (ECUs) that manage engine, transmission, and hydraulic functions.
- Component Installation: Install and calibrate additional electrical components like GPS systems, cameras, and monitoring sensors.
- Wiring Harnesses: Repair or replace damaged wiring harnesses.
- Formal training as an Auto Electrician, with a focus on heavy equipment.
- Advanced understanding of DC electrical systems, circuitry, and electronics.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics.
- Patience and meticulous attention to detail.
