Working across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia, GMG has introduced more than 120 brands into its markets.About the roleThe role holder is responsible for, implementation, coordinating and maintaining of Health and Safety best practices in GMG Food DIP site, ensuring that the business unit complies with all the current health and safety legislations. The role holder is also responsible for executing the operational tasks including, audits, visits, arranging for education sessions, coordinating with the vendors and the government agencies and regular documentation and reporting for the initiative undertaken by the Department and/or issues/accidents encountered.Core ResponsibilitiesParticipates in the development of Health and Safety strategies, internal policy and proceduresCoordinates the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Health and Safety program designed to prevent injury and damage to property and people.Coordinates with the government agencies to identify legislative issues, compliance, new procedures, policies and strategies and ensures that these are developed and understood by all DIP site employees. Communicates and coordinates all GMG group H&S initiatives, policies and procedures.Keeps abreast with latest market changes and current/new ministry regulations and guidelines and ensures up to date communication across the DIP site.Establishes a site H&S committee with representatives from key departments and chairs regular meeting encouraging a H&S culture for site.Gathers and analyzes the data pertaining to performance metrics of Health and Safety norms and objectives for DIP site, departments and individuals themselves and develops internal reports for review and action.Collates data on the status of Health and Safety within the site, identifies areas of improvement and updates the relevant stakeholders for appropriate discussion and actionExecutes agreed number of Health and Safety risk assessments for site per calendar year and reports any issues to relevant stakeholders.Identifies employee training needs in relation to Health and Safety and coordinates with the respective managers and Departments for conducting specific trainings and workshopsPerforms safety audits and inspects facilities and safety equipment to identify and rectify potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance, under the relevant supervision and guidanceCompletes basic Health and Safety checklist for site, providing operations management with action plan and completes follow up visits to check non-compliance closure.Develops and maintains an up to date data base for all tasks and visits completed and provides the relevant stakeholders with common failure modules to minimize riskRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related/equivalent fieldNEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate)Certified First Aider + Fire Warden (Preferred)HACCP training and certification is preferred
