Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced

Senior Safety Officer

to join our team in

Umm Al Quwain

. The ideal candidate will have 5

-7 years of experience

in the

GCC/UAE chemical industry

and a strong track record in implementing and overseeing health and safety systems in high-risk environments. This role is essential to maintaining compliance with UAE regulations and ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of safety programs tailored to chemical manufacturing, storage, and transport activities Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification specific to chemical operations Ensure full compliance with local and international HSE laws, including UAE Civil Defense, MOHRE, and environmental authority regulations Manage chemical handling, labeling, storage, and disposal in accordance with GHS, OSHA, and UAE safety standards Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare and present detailed reports with root cause analysis Deliver safety induction, toolbox talks, and ongoing HSE training for all levels of staff and contractors Maintain up-to-date safety documentation including MSDS, emergency response procedures, and PPE usage records Coordinate with local authorities for inspections, audits, and certifications Lead emergency response and fire drills; ensure readiness for chemical spill containment and evacuation scenarios Promote a culture of continuous safety improvement and awareness throughout the facility

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field Minimum

7-10 years of HSE experience

in the

chemical industry

within the

UAE/GCC

, preferably in Umm Al Quwain or Northern Emirates Must hold valid certifications such as

NEBOSH IGC

,

OSHA

, or

IOSH

; NEBOSH Diploma is a strong advantage In-depth knowledge of UAE federal HSE laws, environmental regulations, and chemical safety protocols Experience in preparing for and handling inspections by Civil Defense, Environmental Agencies, and other government bodies Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Proficient in report writing, incident investigation, and safety data management

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other management systems Working knowledge of industrial hygiene and environmental monitoring practices Arabic language skills are a plus
