Responsibilities – Health and Safety Officer
  • To monitor and develop various types of Risk Assessment.
  • To carry out Fire & H & S Audits and undertake Health and safety walks identifying areas for improvement.
  • To assist the Group Fire Safety Officer in the development of the Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Manage the accident reporting process.
  • To record any accidents with the HSE which fall within the guidelines of the RIDDOR
  • Regulations, and notify the Directorate of these incidents.
  • To coordinate recording and analysis of accidents.
  • To liaise with the Group Health and Safety Manager and provide information/ data for
  • Personal Injury claims, and Public Liability claims when requested in a timely manner.
  • Ensure fire drills are undertaken at appropriate intervals.
  • Keeping PEEPS up to date.
  • Leading on whole site risk assessment working with the RM.
  • Work in partnership with house managers to ensure environmental risk assessments are up to date.
  • Working in partnership with Managers with regard to staff risk assessments.
  • Data collecting for accidents and injuries, taking note of patterns and trends and informing the SMLT.
  • Updating local policies and procedures.
  • Delivery of toolbox talks and/or training sessions. (I.e. Fire key induction.)
  • Overseeing the fire file to ensure all certificates are in date. (Fire extinguishers, alarm testing etc.)
