The Health and Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all site activities are carried out in compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. The role includes developing, implementing, and monitoring safety plans, conducting risk assessments, training personnel, and promoting a culture of safety in MEP project environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Monitoring:
Ensure that the company complies with UAE labor laws and safety regulations (e.g., OSHAD, DM, Trakhees, etc.).
Conduct regular inspections and audits of MEP project sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
Monitor site conditions and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
Risk Assessment & Reporting:
Perform risk assessments for all MEP activities (e.g., working at height, hot works, confined spaces, electrical works, etc.).
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports with recommendations for corrective action.
Training & Awareness:
Conduct induction and regular toolbox talks for workers and subcontractors.
Provide training on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and use of equipment and PPE.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Maintain up-to-date records of safety reports, inspection checklists, permits, and training logs.
Assist in the preparation and submission of HSE documentation required for authority approvals and audits.
Coordination & Communication:
Liaise with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to implement safety practices.
Coordinate with external auditors and government entities during safety inspections or investigations.

Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and international safety standards (NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, etc.)
Strong understanding of hazards in MEP works (electrical safety, mechanical installations, fire safety, etc.)
Excellent communication, observation, and reporting skills
Ability to train and motivate multicultural teams
Proactive, detail-oriented, and safety-focused mindset

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field
NEBOSH IGC or equivalent safety certification (mandatory)
First Aid and Fire Fighting certification (preferred)
Minimum 3-5 years of HSE experience in an MEP contracting environment in the UAE or GCC
