Job Description

Job Summary:
The Head Waiter oversees the dining room operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, smooth workflow, and efficient coordination between waitstaff and kitchen teams. They lead by example, maintain service standards, and handle guest inquiries or complaints professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Guest Service & Satisfaction:

  • Greet guests warmly and ensure a high level of hospitality.
  • Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and waiting lists during peak hours.
  • Handle guest complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Ensure all guests receive timely and attentive service.
2. Staff Supervision & Training:
  • Supervise, train, and motivate waitstaff to maintain service standards.
  • Assign sections and duties to servers, ensuring balanced workloads.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate specials, promotions, and service expectations.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching as needed.
3. Operational Management:
  • Oversee the dining area setup, ensuring cleanliness, proper table settings, and ambiance.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure timely food delivery and resolve any service delays.
  • Monitor inventory of serving supplies (cutlery, glassware, napkins) and report shortages.
  • Assist in cash handling, billing accuracy, and POS system operations.
4. Quality & Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and service protocols.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure food presentation and service meet quality standards.
5. Team Collaboration:
  • Liaise between servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new waitstaff when required.
  • Foster a positive and professional work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience: 3+ years in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Attention to detail and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of POS systems and reservation software.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long hours, lift trays, and move quickly during service
