Strategic Planning
Prepare and communicate department's strategy, objectives and operational plan in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders and in line with G42 strategic goals.- Manage the execution of departmental objectives and plan.
- Propose and communicate KPI’s for the department and its employees and ensure they are in line with business unit and G42 strategic goals.
Budget Management
Develop departmental budget and monitor budget spend in coordination with relevant sections.- Provide guidance to direct line reports on budget optimization opportunities where applicable.
- Analyse financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures and cash management) to ensure all operations are within the department's approved budget.
Corporate Performance Management
Oversee the performance of the department by providing strategic direction and guidance in achieving objectives.- Proactively communicate the annual department objectives and KPIs to department's employees.
- Engage with the relevant stakeholders at business unit and G42 to identify opportunities to improve department's performance.
People Management
Responsible for identifying the training and development needs of department's employees.- Maintain constant availability of the required number of competent staff to support the department in meeting all its responsibilities, plans and objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback to direct reports and provide inputs to the division head on performance of employees.
Functional Responsibilities:
Define and validate the G42 cloud architecture roadmap and provide technical direction to Solutions and R&D teams.- Oversee the implementation of initial models and proof-of-concept prototypes to ensure long term technical viability of new deployments and infuse key technologies where appropriate by owing corresponding research, development and governance.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders and strategic partners to develop complex end-to-end enterprise solutions.
- Identify, define, design, develop, review and deliver the most optimal cloud-based solutions for cloud environments whilst ensuring it meets all of the client’s requirements and is in accordance with G42's security guidelines.
- Oversee technical proposals and ensure the project objective and solution is rightly set in scope of project.
- Provide input for RFI and RFP responses, including effort estimate, project team, timeline, implementation methodology and solution components.
- Provide technical support in sales calls, solution presentations and assist the business development team with managing the deal cycle.
- Deliver customer value through design and implementation of highly scalable and modular platform services supporting multi-instance and multitenancy requirements.
- Be the Voice of Customer by sharing their insights with Solutions team and removing key hindrances in cloud adoption, if any.
- Develop and convert R&D architecture design principles to project-specific needs of cloud architect structure ensuring consistency and reuse for G42 Cloud services and solutions.
- Establish service level requirements and ensure compliance to all SLA for projects.
- Understand customers’ overall database, IT and business priorities and success measures to design implementation of architectures and solutions.
- Oversee implementation to ensure solutions exhibit high levels of performance and support architecture principles and objectives (availability, quality, scalability, performance, security, maintainability, reusability and reliability etc.), as appropriate.
- Partner with key technology vendors to maintain R&D platform's competitiveness through continuous gap analysis and corresponding platform roadmaps and enhancements.
Organizational Responsibilities:
Governance
Develop department's policies and procedures in line with the directive and role within G42.- Ensure compliance of the department to the guidelines defined by HR, legal, risk and quality assurance in addition to G42’s framework and DoA.
- Support the periodic audit of the established policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Management Reporting
Review all periodic reports prepared by section heads and prepare the department's periodic reports for issuance to the relevant stakeholders at G42.
Technology Management
Ensure that all the technology needs of the department are identified and that the department's processes are performed in a time and cost effective manner.
Change Management
Own/drive change management activities pertaining to the relevant department and ensure all stakeholder communications are as per the approved communication plan.
Professional Development
Proactively identify and seek professional development opportunities to improve leadership, behavioural and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work and in line with G42’s values/behaviours.- Participate in performance appraisals, reflect and incorporate feedback and recommendations provided by the line manager for development.
Other Responsibilities:
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, international standards and related G42 Policies and Procedures.- Comply with G42 Acceptable Use Policy, attend mandatory information security, privacy, business continuity and HSE trainings.
- Report information security, HSE etc. incidents or suspect incidents through G42 established incident reporting channels.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and classify and handle information as per G42 Policies and Procedures

- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent field
- Minimum 15 years of experience in making architecture and design decisions on software projects with at least 4 years of experience in making design decisions involving cloud computing services
- Technical competencies: Product Development Lifecycle, Project Management, Product /UI/UX Design, Market Research, Continuous Integration
