The job holder will spearhead the development of innovative robotic systems and sensor technologies to address critical challenges in healthcare. By combining technical expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative approach, the role aims to advance medical applications such as surgical robotics, rehabilitation devices, and health monitoring solutions. The position is responsible for driving research excellence, fostering partnerships, and translating groundbreaking ideas into impactful, market-ready products that enhance patient outcomes and healthcare delivery. Strategic Responsibilities: Define and execute the vision, mission, and long-term strategy of the Robotics and Sensors Lab, ensuring alignment with healthcare innovation goals. Showcasing breakthroughs in robotics and sensors for healthcare. Core Responsibilities: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of advanced robotic systems and sensors for diagnostics, surgery, monitoring, and therapy in healthcare. Identify healthcare challenges and conceptualize solutions that integrate robotics and sensor technologies to improve patient outcomes. Lead the recruitment and development of a multidisciplinary team of robotics engineers, sensor specialists, software developers, and healthcare professionals. Establish a robust framework for prototyping, testing, and scaling healthcare robotics and sensor-based solutions. Monitor and evaluate project progress, adjusting goals and timelines to meet research and commercialization objectives. Develop and implement quality assurance and safety protocols for all hardware and software systems to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Foster a collaborative environment where researchers and engineers can share ideas and innovate effectively. Ensure knowledge transfer through training programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities within the lab and broader healthcare ecosystem. Identify and prioritize research areas such as surgical robotics, wearable sensors, assistive technologies, and rehabilitation devices, focusing on impactful healthcare applications. Build partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, healthcare organizations, and government bodies to advance research and commercialization. Develop strategies to attract top talent, including startups, researchers, and collaborators, to establish the lab as a hub of innovation in robotics and healthcare. Secure funding from grants, industry sponsorships, and venture capital for research and product development initiatives. Promote the labaEUR(TM)s thought leadership by participating in conferences, publishing research, and drive initiatives to ensure ethical, safe, and inclusive development of robotics and sensor technologies. Developmental Responsibilities: Set and monitor annual performance goals, ensuring alignment with the labaEUR(TM)s objectives and continuous improvement. Proactively identify professional development opportunities, such as training, certifications, and conferences, to stay ahead in robotics and healthcare technology. Stay updated on the latest advancements in robotics, sensors, and healthcare technologies through professional networks, journals, and collaborations. Model leadership and teamwork, promoting a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability. Actively contribute to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. Educational Requirements: Minimum of a MasteraEUR(TM)s degree preferably a Ph.D., in Robotics, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Overall Experience: At least 10 years of combined professional and academic experience in robotics, sensors, or related areas, with demonstrated expertise in healthcare applications. Research Portfolio: Strong record of research and innovation in areas such as surgical robotics, wearable sensors, autonomous systems, or healthcare-focused robotics solutions. Funding and Collaboration: Proven track record in securing external research funding and building academic and industry collaborations. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, CE Marking) and medical device regulations. Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders, including researchers, engineers, clinicians, and external partners.
