Job Description

The Arbor School seeks a special individual for an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our school. The successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the school\xe2\x80\x99s ecological and sustainability vision, as well as challenging students to fulfil their potential within the academic disciplines. The Arbor School are seeking a highly motivated Head of Mathematics to lead the growing Maths department in the newly opened Secondary School. The department will consist of two Maths teachers with potential to lead the IT and Business teachers depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for this core subject. The successful applicant will be able to teach students of all abilities as well as demonstrate a proven track record of securing outstanding student outcomes. The successful applicant should be proficient and experienced in teaching and leading Maths across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level or IB.
JOB SUMMARY The successful candidate will be proficient and experienced in leading a Maths department, ideally with experience of teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and setting up an A Level or IB programme. The successful applicant will be able to articulate clear plans for curriculum mapping, strong knowledge of assessment and data tools and a drive to develop the Maths curriculum in the school. They will form an integral component of the Maths team, with responsibilities across KS3, KS4 and eventually KS5 as the secondary school grows into a full A \xe2\x80\x93 Level programme. A person with a passion to stretch students to achieve their potential and beyond, and support students to develop a love for Maths is needed.
Key responsibilities

  • To lead in developing a Mathematics strategy including whole school curriculum mapping (working with Primary School), policy and procedure documentation, and meaningful assessment practices to show student progress.
  • To developing and reviewing the Maths curriculum and schemes of work at KS3, KS4 and KS5 enabling stretch and challenge opportunities, and curriculum modification strategies
  • Lead in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of schemes of work for the school in accordance with the National Curriculum requirements; with a particular focus on challenge, pace, high order questioning and thinking skills to facilitate students accessing the highest grades at KS4 and KS5.
  • To develop a progressive programme where Mathematics is delivered through inquiry based delivery embedding real life situations and problems into lessons and using concept based frameworks
  • To ensure that the learning environment is well-ordered, safe and stimulating, leading by example to encourage a high standard of display work in classrooms and communal areas with a clear emphasis on celebrating success, sharing achievements and highlighting specialist subject knowledge

REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
  • Native-level English language skills
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mathematics or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience teaching Maths in the UK or a reputable British school overseas
  • A track record of outstanding GSCE and/or A Level examination results
  • A track record of outstanding teaching and learning and an ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment

REMUNERATION:
